Fire risk in and around Clive

Local woodlanda, grass, and brush along roads and footpaths are tinder dry as a result of prolonged hot, dry weather. This brings a much higher risk of fire, which can be easily ignited by accident - a moment’s carelessness with a match, smouldering cigarette stubs, or sunlight focusing through a discarded bottle or broken glass. Fire could so easily take hold and spread very rapidly along verges, fields, woodland and, particularly, up on the hill.

There have already been a few small fires near Clive Primary School and, yesterday night, the waste bins along the wall by Grinshill Village Hall were all destroyed by fire.

We ask all residents to keep eyes open, take particular care, dispose of any rubbish safely (or take it home) and help keep our area safe.
